Message:

Hi Everyone,

Our annual Ice Show is scheduled for Sunday, March 11, 2018. Dress rehearsal is February 25, 2018. This year our theme is the Olympics.

We will be having an Ice Show meeting on Thursday, January 18, 2018 in the Strilkiwski Lounge. We hope that everyone can attend. If you are unable to attend and are willing to volunteer, please reply to this email. The meeting should only be 15-30 mins long. At the meeting we will be discussing practice and dress rehearsal times as well as looking for volunteers to help in the days before the show and during the show to help make it all run smoothly.

Please remember that the only other time we look for volunteers is for the ColorBlast run and we do not offer other fundraising opportunities. By volunteering to lend a hand it’s a great way to be more involved in the Skate Dauphin program.

We are currently looking for the following volunteers. The job description is generally the same for each position with the skating group. Taking on a position may seem like a daunting job, but we encourage co-team leaders and extra parents to sit in the stands to make it more fun. Remember: Many hands make light work!

First, we are looking for a Parent Volunteer Coordinator: This parent will be in contact with the team leaders, to ensure plans are running smoothly and answering questions when needed.

For each CanSkate Group (and additional groups from NextLevel and above) we will be looking for a

  1. Team leader(s) (1-2 parents/group) - Call 1-2 quick meetings with parents, usually during Canskate for the Canskate groups. Meetings would consist of gathering ideas for costumes, confirming costume decisions, and then making sure everyone has a costume ready. Many of these “meetings” could even be through group emails. (Skate Dauphin will supply email addresses). Team leaders also take attendance of their groups in the dressing room the day of the rehearsal and Ice show.
  2. Skate guard/Stand volunteers (2-3 parents/group) – These volunteers will sit in the stands with children, assist if they need to go to the washroom or help with costume glitches, line the kids up before their performance and take off/put on skate guards. *We ask that all parents sit in the audience during the dress rehearsal/Ice Show. This volunteer position ensures that you will be able to sit with your child on the performance days if they are nervous/anxious.

Other important notes:

Please keep costumes simple and ensure they cannot fall apart on the ice. Feathers, beads etc can be dangerous if they fall on the ice and a skater accidentally skates over them.
